“You are the light of the world. A town built on a hill cannot be hidden. Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.”

(Matthew 5:14-16)

To know that you are in the exact place God has called you to be fills your heart with such certainty and comfort. You are ready to face whatever may lie ahead, knowing you are where you should be. There is not a false sense that everything will be perfect and pain free, but rather a deep rooted peace that only God can give.

This incredible peace has truly filled our souls as we have arrived and settled into our new life in Georgia. As we took our first walk down the streets of Tbilisi, as we drove through the mountain pass into our new town in the Kakheti region, as we finally arrived into our home at the top of our town in Telavi, overlooking the Caucasus Mountains, we have experienced the presence of God.

Georgia feels familiar and we are at home. This is where we are called to be.

We have now been in Georgia for about three weeks. We have settled into our new home, met our neighbors, and have become adopted into a beautiful new church family. Our schools started on Monday, and we have been happy to meet our new co-teachers and our energetic students.

We have enjoyed getting to know our little city, which is more like a small town. There is an incredible view of the mountains right outside our house. We are told the view in winter, with snow-capped mountains and clear skies, is breathtaking. The people are warm and friendly. They greet us on our daily walks, asking where we are from and how we like Georgia.

At home, we have grapes, apples, quince, and hazelnuts growing in our yard, and we have already begun harvesting and preserving. We feel incredibly blessed to be here, knowing God prepared the way for us.

He said if we let our light shine before others, they would see our good deeds and glorify our father in heaven. We teach and tutor, we explore and learn, but in everything we do, we seek to exalt Jesus Christ and make Him known.

It has been an incredible journey arriving in Georgia for the second time. We are so happy to be here and have been warmly welcomed by our colleges and family in Christ here. As we experience God’s blessing, we think of all those who have supported us to be here. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts. Thank you for your prayers and support; we can’t do what we do without you!
